THE DAWN OF A NEW ERA
Conference by Raphael Gielgen, Head of Research & Trend Scouting at Vitra
For those who couldn’t attend the event, or for those eager to experience it again, here’s a brief recap of what took place in our showroom on March 6th.
Weeks of meticulous planning, showroom transformations and a complete redesign of our warehouse… Every detail was thoughtfully crafted to welcome Raphael Gielgen, our partner Vitra, and of course all of you.
The evening offered a unique opportunity to connect and dive deep into the groundbreaking changes shaping the future of work: robot natives, the next set of work skills, beta work, resource distribution and the looming resource shortages — these were just a few of the topics that fueled our discussions.

Buckle up, we’re diving into the future that’s already here
« If machines improve, humans must become better humans. » Raphael Gielgen
Generative Age
This shift marks the transition from passive technological tools to active artificial intelligence systems. AI no longer merely automates repetitive tasks — it continuously improves and evolves, almost independently from human intervention, enhancing our capabilities.
Next Work Skills
It’s no longer about working in the same place every day with the same colleagues to perform the same tasks. Instead, the focus is on fostering teams around projects. In this context, skills and social learning take precedence over degrees.
Robot Natives
The new generation is growing up in an environment where robots are omnipresent. While they assist humans in various tasks today, in the future, they could fully take over certain roles, reshaping job functions and interactions in the professional world.
Beta Work
Inspired by the concept of Permanent Beta this approach emphasizes the importance of continuous experimentation and adaptability. In a constantly evolving environment, it’s crucial to embrace hyper-agility, accepting that we may not always know where we’ll be or what tasks we’ll be tackling in the coming hours or days.
Shortage of Resources
In the face of declining resources, adapting our lifestyles and infrastructure has become crucial. In the coming decades, we can expect a shift toward integrated living, where homes, workplaces, and essential services converge into a single space.
Human to Human
Despite technological advancements, authentic human interactions remain essential in the professional world. Cultivating sincere and meaningful relationships between individuals fosters effective collaboration and preserves the crucial human element in work.

At the heart of ot it, the future is built on humanity
« In a digitized era, authentic human experiences are not just valuable - they are essential. » Raphael Gielgen
We cannot shape it from the comfort of our homes. It’s crucial to engage with the world, interact with others, and immerse ourselves in tangible experiences. By forging human connections and challenging our ideas in the digital age, we will be truly prepared to navigate — together — the future of work.
